Quick Installation Guide for Brainboxes Serial Cards
Installing Brainboxes PCI or PCMCIA Serial Cards in Windows Me / 98 / 95 / 2000 / XPI (Note: 2 port PCMCIA cards not supported in Windows 2000 or WinXP) 1. PCI Cards - turn off the PC (unplug from power socket) and insert the card into a free PCI slot. Turn the PC on. 2. PCMCIA Cards - insert the card into a free PCMCIA slot. 3. When Windows detects the new hardware follow the prompts to install the driver from the correct location on the Brainboxes Serial Solutions CD ROM. 4. To check installation, and for further configuration options: a. Windows 2000/XP - select the device in 'Multi-Port Serial Adapter' in Device Manager. b. Windows Me/98/95 - select the device in 'Multifunction Adaptors' in Device Manager.
Installing Brainboxes ISA Serial Cards in Windows Me / 98 / 95I 1. For all ISA cards, an interrupt (IRQ) must be reserved for the card in the BIOS, prior to installation. 2. Set the jumpers on the card to settings suitable for your computer. Write them down for reference. 3. Turn off the PC (unplug from power socket) and insert the card into a free ISA slot. 4. Turn the computer on and open 'Add New Hardware' wizard in 'Control Panel;. 5. When prompted to let Windows find the hardware, select 'No' 6. Choose 'Multi Function Adapters' from the list displayed. 7. On the next screen click 'Have Disk' and point the dialogue box to ':\diskimg\SSWin9x' 8. Select your card from the list displayed 9. Click 'Finish' 10. To check installation, and for further configuration options: a. Windows Me/98/95 - select the device in 'Multifunction Adaptors' in Device Manager.
Installing Brainboxes PCI Serial Cards in Windows NTI 1. Turn off the PC (unplug from power socket) and insert the card into a free PCI slot. 2. Turn the computer on and insert the Brainboxes Serial Solutions CD ROM. Select: Start, Run, ':\diskimg\winnt\setup.exe', and follow instructions to install the software. 3. To check installation, and for further configuration options open the 'Serial Solutions' applet in Control Panel.Use the configuration utility to modify the settings of the card.

Turn off the PC (unplug from power socket) and insert the card into a free ISA slot. 5. In Control Panel double click on 'Serial Solutions'. 6. Select 'Add' and select your card from the device window. 7. Follow the instructions to complete installation. 8. To check installation, and for further configuration options open the 'Serial Solutions' applet in Control Panel. Use the configuration utility to modify the settings of the card.
Installing Brainboxes PCMCIA Serial Cards in Windows NTI (Note: 2 port PCMCIA cards not supported in Windows NT. PM-120 Full-Duplex mode only) 1. Insert Brainboxes' card into a free PCMCIA slot 2. The PCMCIA serial cards use Microsoft's own serial driver, and will only install as COM1 or COM2 - one of these will need to be free to install the card. 3. To check that the card has installed, click on 'PC Card' in Control Panel. 4. Clicking on 'Properties' displays the COM port number.
